Some years ago the owner of a local
country house came into the workshop bearing the remains of a
terracotta pot. It was the last, he explained, of the old lily
pots his family had used for generations. The lilies would be
grown in the greenhouse and carried inside when they were in
bloom, hence the carrying handles on the side. A further feature
of the design was the relatively vertical sides of the lily pot
which allowed the bulbs to be spaced well apart deep in the pot.
We were happy to make him a new set of lily pots to grace his
house with the summer scent of lilies and he was happy for us
to add the lily pot to our range.
